The inspiration for Rascally Liquor comes from the renowned poet Robert Burns and his iconic character, Tam o' Shanter. The design cleverly incorporates the bridge that Tam crosses into the branding, with the double L forming the keystone. The imagery of Tam and his horse adds a distinctive and recognizable icon to the brand, which can be adapted for different variants.
What sets Rascally Liquor apart is its focus on two variants of a new make spirit (NMS) from Annandale Distillery. The NMS product is characterized as immature and unsophisticated, but with an outgoing and mischievous nature. The concept of "releasing the rascal within" was developed to convey the idea that consumers are unleashing both the spirit from the bottle and their own adventurous side when they taste the product.
The design of Rascally Liquor is realized using stock glass bottles, which provide a sleek and sophisticated look. The technical specifications include two sizes - 20cl and 5cl - catering to different preferences and occasions.
Springetts Brand Design Consultants, led by Design Director Sue Bicknell and Designer Sam Stringer, collaborated with Illustrator Peter O'Connor to bring the vision of Rascally Liquor to life. Their creative expertise and attention to detail ensured that the brand exudes desirability, distinctiveness, and determination, going beyond being just a precursor to single malt Scotch whisky.
